A scheme launched in 2007 in the UK has so far helped 100,000 individuals to find employment, it has been claimed.
According to the British minister for employment Tony McNulty, the Local Employment Partnerships (LEP) program has encouraged employers to work in league with the government to place suitable candidates in jobs.
So far, he continued, 100,000 people have found work through the scheme - a figure that has been hit two months ahead of schedule.
McNulty stated, "We must build on this success - we are doing everything we can to ensure that more people can benefit from Local Employment Partnerships so that they can get back into employment."
He said that the target for 2009-10 is to help another 200,000 jobseekers find work.
In other UK employment news, the General Practitioners Committee last week called for the government to regulate the employment of doctors within general practices.
